It's harder than it looks

Who knew side lying work incorporated so many muscles? Side lying work is no joke. Yes, you are working the side of your hip/glute (tensor fasciae latae) BUT you work so much more! The importance of side lying exercises are to enhance trunk control and balance by ELONGATING the trunk. You are focusing on abdominals, obliques, Iliacus (low abs) and adductors. The goal of the is to stay super balanced and slow/controlled. When we say "stabilize!" we mean it!!!
